In honor of Veterans Day, American Campus Communities (ACC) reaffirmed its dedication to supporting military families on November 9th by awarding $25,000 in scholarships to five University of Texas (UT) students through its partnership with Folds of Honor. This initiative not only supports the education of these students but also pays tribute to the families of America’s heroes.

The event, held at ACC’s Hook ’em Lounge at Darryl K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium, included a scholarship presentation by Kim Voss, ACC’s Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of the Folds of Honor Central Texas Chapter. Each student received a $5,000 scholarship, underscoring ACC’s ongoing commitment to educational advancement and community support.

The five scholarship recipients, studying fields such as nursing, psychology, neuroscience, computer science and occupational therapy, are honoring their families’ service while advancing their own academic careers. ACC has partnered with Folds of Honor since 2018, awarding more than $175,000 in scholarships to help students from military and first responder families access higher education.

“We are honored to support the families of our nation’s heroes through our partnership with Folds of Honor,” said Kim Voss. “Investing in the education of these students allows us to give back in a meaningful way, strengthening our commitment to military families and their futures.”

This Year’s Scholarship Recipients:

  • Jourdann Cathro, Nursing Major, daughter of retired U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Louie Peter Cathro
  • Angelique Trotter, Psychology Major, daughter of retired U.S. Army Sgt. Major Walter Lee Trotter and U.S. Army Specialist Shawn Silvan-Trotter
  • Gracelynn Ray, Computer Science Major, daughter of retired U.S. Army Major Douglas Ivan Dusenberry
  • Talon Hensley, Neuroscience Major, son of retired U.S. Navy Sr. Chief Petty Officer David Wayne Hensley
  • Annemarie French, Doctoral Student in Occupational Therapy, daughter of retired U.S. Army Colonel Jeffrey Wellington French

“With this partnership, we’re able to make a difference in the lives of these brave military families,” said Folds of Honor Founder Major Dan Rooney. “These scholarships provide not only educational support but also hope to our nation’s heroes and their loved ones. The need is great, and we’re incredibly thankful for ACC’s commitment.”
