Plaza Verde II Presented With Green Innovator Award at Annual Student Housing Business Interface Conference

 

May 8, 2024-- AUSTIN, Texas. American Campus Communities, the nation’s largest student housing company, was awarded in the category On-Campus Best Use of Green & Sustainable Construction/Development for one of their newest third-party development projects, Plaza Verde II at the University of California, Irvine, at Student Housing Business Magazine’s InterFace Conference Innovator Awards as a top leader in the industry.

Home to more than 1,077 residents in a mix of apartment-style floor plans, Plaza Verde II's energy-efficent design is made to accommodate varying student needs and budgets by offering units at approximately 30 percent below market rental rates. The pre-planned Plaza Verde I infrastructure, which included vehicular and bike parking, enabled higher density for Phase II. The community includes ENERGY STAR® appliances, low-flow fixtures, recessed window openings and shading devices to reduce thermal load.The all-electric building also supports using affordable transportation options, which reduce emissions and support a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, residents have access to amenities in both Plaza Verde I and II, including community centers, courtyards, and covered rooftop terraces.

Since 2013, ACC has been awarded 53 SHB Innovator Awards. This year’s conference and award ceremony were held on Thursday, April 25 at the JW Marriott in Austin, Texas.
